I have been a cinephile for most my life and had a love for film and cinematography as long as I can remember. I didn't really care for the art of photography, it just didn't really interest me. Maybe because my camera sucked or my phone sucked, or because everyone can take photos with their phone whenever they want and people that take photos with their phone all the time annoy me. I don't know what my aversion was, but over the last couple years I have really gotten into photography. The well is a lot deeper and rewarding than I ever imagined. Everything from getting the ideal framing, to racing against time to capture a shot in perfect lighting, to learning how to bring it all together in post. There is much more overlap with cinematography than I previously thought. Both require skill and discipline. Both have rules and times when they can be broken. Both tell a story, except photos tell it in a single frame.
I primarily take photos of stand up comedy, but I have been branching out to street, architecture, landscape, concert, animals, and have really been enjoying the editing process.
Below are some of my favorite photos I've taken. Enjoy.
